A biomechanical model of the human tongue for understanding speech production and other lingual behaviors

Making the finite-element mesh

Making the mesh was probably the most technically challenging aspect of this dissertation. Why? Because I started from a volumetric (i.e., discrete) representation of tongue anatomy, and there is no established way to get from there to a finite element mesh. (This is apparently a topic of on-going research, so that comment may be out of date very soon. Let it suffice to say that, of the research software I found online, none of it was adequately documented and none of it had tech support available.)

What am I offering here?
